Follow along here at Beyond Women’s Sports for the weekly attendance updates in the WNBA. New updates will be published every Monday. The numbers reported below are up to and including games through July 23.
WNBA Attendance: Week in review
This report spanned a week of games from July 17 through July 23. In this timeframe, there were a total of 15 games played. As expected, attendance is seeing a slight increase since the All-star break. Additionally, camp games tend to draw larger crowds as they are geared toward youth groups. The Washington Mystics’ July 19 game was held at Capital One Arena and was the largest crowd of the week (14,406). The Atlanta Dream once again had the smallest crowd of the week, with 2,394 on July 18.
Overall, league-wide attendance is up 19.3%, while ten teams are now up from their 2022 final average. The Chicago Sky are currently down by only 38 from their 2022 final average. Additionally, the largest increase by one team is currently the Las Vegas Aces (+3,447). The largest decrease by one team currently from 2022 is the Seattle Storm (-1,885). Finally, the league is just shy of topping its 2018 final average of 6,779.
Below is the graphic comparing the 2022 season’s final averages. The reported capacity numbers for each arena are based on the team’s arena being fully open. Half of the league’s teams play in NBA-sized arenas that unless needed, close off their upper bowl sections*.
Capacity numbers are provided by each team’s individual arena’s website. Also reported are each team’s individual high and low games for the season. All attendance numbers are provided through Acrossthetimeline.com.
