2024 NWSL Attendance Report (Week 13 Update)

Follow along here at Beyond Women’s Sports for the weekly attendance updates in the NWSL. This is the 12th report for the 2024 season, as the regular season began on March 16. The numbers reported below are up to and including all games through games on June 23. The NWSL saw an increase in teams for 2024 with the return of the Utah Royals and the expansion team Bay FC. The league is not expected to expand for the 2025 season.

NWSL Attendance: Week in Review

The NWSL reached 1 million fans this weekend, the fastest ever in league history. The largest attendance for this past week belongs to the Portland Thorns on June 23 (20,024). The lowest attendance belongs to the North Carolina Courage with 5,256 on June 23.

At the halfway point in the 2024 season, only three teams remain below their final 2023 average (San Diego, Angel City & Seattle). Currently, Chicago has the largest increase from 2023 (+3,469), followed by Gotham FC (+2,356) and the Washington Spirit (+2,171). Overall, the league is still up slightly from last season by 202 fans.

Capacity numbers are provided by each team’s individual stadium’s website. Also reported are each team’s individual high and low games for the season. Finally, all attendance numbers are provided through the ESPN box scores and @NwslNotes on Twitter.

The Week Ahead

All 14 teams will once again be in action this weekend. The featured matchup will be the Washington Spirit hosting the NC Courage on Saturday, June 29 (7:30 pm on ION).
