Follow along here at Beyond Women’s Sports for the weekly attendance updates in the NWSL. This is the 13th report for the 2024 season, as the regular season began on March 16. The numbers reported below are up to and including all games through games on July 7*. The NWSL saw an increase in teams for 2024 with the return of the Utah Royals and the expansion team Bay FC. The league is not expected to expand for the 2025 season.

NWSL Attendance: Week in Review
For this week, the highest attendance belongs to the Portland Thorns with 18,011 on Friday, July 5. The smallest attendance for this week was 4,738 for the North Carolina Courage on Sunday, July 7. The Kansas City Current continued their sellout streak with their ninth straight of the season (11,500). Overall, the league averaged 10,574 for the seven games played over this holiday weekend.
Currently, there are now four teams below their 2023 final average. Angel City FC, San Diego Wave, Portland, and the Seattle Reign are below last season’s final average. The largest increase from last season is still Chicago (+3,125). This is followed by the Washington Spirit (2,503) and then NY/NJ Gotham FC (+2,158). Overall, the league is still up slightly from last season by 347 fans.

The Week Look Ahead
The NWSL regular season is on hiatus until Friday, August 23. The league will start its first-ever NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup this Friday, July 19. This 20-team tournament will run through Sunday, August 4. The 2024 Olympic games in Paris, France will also run from July 25 through August 10.
