Dangerous Dangerfield and Her Impact on the Lynx

With the 16th pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft, the Minnesota Lynx selected Crystal Dangerfield. Little did the Lynx know how much of a steal this pick would be. Dangerfield is a 5’5″ point guard, she’s tiny but mighty, to say the least. She graduated from the University of Connecticut, or how many know it as UCONN. Let’s take a look into her career at UCONN and how Dangerous Dangerfield is making an impact. She will also continue to impact teams, now at a higher level for the Minnesota Lynx.

Before the season got cut, she started all of the 30 games that she was available to play in. Crystal averaged 14.9 PPG, 3.7 RPG, and 3.9 APG. This was before the remainder of the season got canceled due to the coronavirus. The Huskies were 5th in the country with the help of Dangerfield. Out of the three NCAA tournaments she played in, she went to a Final Four every time. She had a season-high 25 points in their loss at South Carolina. She was later named American Athletic Conference First Team and All-Tournament Team for the 2019-20 season. Another award Dangerfield was up for was the Nancy Lieberman Award. She was one of five finalists for this top PG award. Needless to say, Dangerfield was Dangerous in college and now she is on to the bigger leagues.

Crystal Dangerfield is a Dangerous threat that the Lynx are now utilizing. Dangerfield used to not start for the Lynx, but with many injuries, she now is taking on a bigger role and that’s being a starting point guard. According to the Minnesota Lynx PR, Dangerfield is the first rookie to start at point guard since Renee Montgomery in 2009.

She’s Got Range

Dangerfield has only played in four games so far, but she has proven that she’s got range. She is a threat whether it be going to the basket for a layup or shooting the three, she is difficult to guard and definitely has range.

She’s Fast

Dangerfield is only 5’5″, but that doesn’t stop her from being fast. Dangerfield has speed on the court and can make it down the court fast during a fast break. Having this speed threat has been a great asset for the Lynx.

Dangerfield has 2.0 AST and 1.0 STL average in only four games. She is only a rookie, but her presence on the court even if it’s not scoring is profound. Watch out for Dangerous Dangerfield because she is coming in strong and is nowhere near finished yet.

About Aislyn Jowers

I've grown up going to NCCAW games, when Tiffany Mitchell was drafted to the Indiana Fever in 2016 it opened the doors to the WNBA for me. Ever since then, I have been an avid watcher of both the WNBA and NCAAW games. Instead of bothering my family and friends with my thoughts about the game, I decided I will write about it instead.
