This week on Twitter, Aliyah Boston announced that she was officially part of the Adidas family. She will now join other amazing players working with Adidas, like Candace Parker, Chelsea Gray, Betnijah Laney, Nneka, and Chiney Ogwumike. According to Nick DePaula, the contract is for a multi-year shoe deal.
On April 28th, Boston was spotted wearing Adidas during her trip to the Indians game. NCAAW and WNBA fans speculated that Boston may sign with the brand after seeing her in Adidas several times before training camp.
Before the WNBA
Boston attended the University of South Carolina. She played a key role in leading the team to their second national championship win in school history in 2022. In addition, Boston won the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. She attained an impressive record of 129 victories and only nine losses throughout her four-year tenure.
What’s next?
For now, we know the deal is for apparel and footwear. Adidas has not reported on whether or not this deal includes a signature sneaker. Currently, Parker is the only WNBA Adidas athlete with a signature shoe. Signature shoes are still far and few in the WNBA, but a deal like this sounds promising.
Fans old and new can tune into Boston’s first game on May 19th. The Indiana Fever will host the Connecticut Sun. Thanks for reading Adidas welcomes Aliyah Boston; stay tuned as I attend Boston’s debut WNBA game. Follow along on Instagram.
