A’ja Wilson and Dearica Hamby made history on the same night

Wednesday night was full of highlights, starting with A’ja Wilson setting the single-season scoring record with (956 points) WNBA record. Wilson only needs 44 points to reach 1,000 points in the season. The sports world was celebrating the former M’VP, soon-to-be 3x M’VP from powerhouses like LeBron James to WNBA players to teammates. It was a beautiful celebration. Wilson wasn’t the only one making history on Wednesday night; Dearica Hamby also made history with her team, the Los Angeles Sparks. Let’s dive into the highlights, celebrations and when Wilson hit the breaking record shot.

A’ja Wilson

The Las Vegas Aces went on the road to play the well-improved Indiana Fever, and the fans and media were on the countdown for Wilson’s breaking scoring record. I will not dive into the game itself more of a highlight of Wilson’s single-season-scoring record. However, Vegas beat the Fever 86-75. Let’s go back to Wilson and her night. Wilson finished the game with 27 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks. She is also hunting to break a single-season rebounding record with (418) second in W history. She is second to the phenomenal rookie Angel Reese, who has 446( WNBA record).

The sports world celebrated Wilson’s night:

I believe this type of greatness will be hard to duplicate anytime soon. Also, bring some tissue paper and listen closely to how her teammate Alysha Clark praises her and values and appreciates her as a human being.

This was the exact moment Wilson broke the record; unfortunately, the broadcasters failed to acknowledge it on Live TV. However, that’s beside the point. Her peers celebrated Wilson on her special night.

Dearica Hamby

Hamby also made history on Wednesday night, breaking the legend Lisa Leslie’s record for most rebounds in a single season in Sparks history. Leslie, of course, praised Hamby for breaking her record. As they say,” Records are meant to be broken.”

What is most impressive is Hamby’s doing it in her second year with the Sparks. She has 341 total rebounds for the season so far and more to come.
