Amazing Pitching in AU Softball

As the bats have dominated in AU Softball entering Week Four, pitching became the star early on. Altogether, 11 runs came across the plate while pitchers Danielle O’Toole and Alyssa Denham took care of the hitters. Without further ado, let’s recap games nineteen and twenty of Season Three of AU Softball.

Game Nineteen: O’Toole sits seven for Team McCleney in a 3- 2 win over Team Jaquish

To begin, O’Toole threw her fourth complete game this season as looked unstoppable in the circle. Also, she moved into a tie for second place all-time list with Haylie Wagner in complete games in AU Softball history with four. The lefty struck out seven of Sahvanna Jaquish’s hitters, allowing six hits.

A solo homer by Jaquish in the first inning and an RBI triple by Andrea Filler were the runs allowed by O’Toole. Jaquish extended her lead on the AU Softball career home run list after slamming her 17th career home run.

O’Toole was the game’s MVP 2 for her efforts in the circle. On the other hand, Haylie McCleney’s squad’s offense came via the long ball from Shannon Rhodes and Caleigh Clifton. Rhodes garnered MVP 1 honors while Clifton was the MVP 3.

Game Twenty: Denham deals for Team Chidester in win over Team Mulipola 4 -2

Similar to what we saw in O’Toole, Denham gave a similar effort in the circle for Amanda Chidester’s team. The right-hander went the distance, allowing three hits and striking out three players on Dejah Mulipola’s squad.

It is important to note that both hits allowed by Denham were home runs by Mulipola and Erika Piancastelli. Denham won MVP 2 honors for her stellar performance in the circle.

Chidester’s offense came from two players in Anissa Urtez and Tori Vidales. Urtez hit a solo homer to center field and an RBI single while Vidales knocked in two runs with a homer as well. Urtez was the game’s MVP 1 while Vidales got MVP 3 honors.
