As the AU Pro Softball Championship Season enters Week Four, the action is getting tight and the games are lessening. There is much to be decided as the race for a championship is long to be decided. There was plenty to be excited about as the doubleheader had something for everybody. That being said, let’s look at Games 20 and 21 of the Championship Season.
Game 20: Early Offense Led the Way in This AU Pro Softball Matchup
Here, pitcher Lexi Kilfoyl and Team Blue faced catcher Sashel Palacios and Team Orange. In the top of the first, Skylar Wallace gave Team Blue an early lead with a two-run homer to center field. However, Team Orange countered in the bottom of the inning with five runs of their own.
Palacios brought in a run via a hit-by-pitch as Anissa Urtez scored Aliyah Andrews on a fielder’s choice. In the end, Sam Fischer drove in the final three runs with one swing of the bat with a homer to left center. Although the bats cooled off from innings two to four, the offense returned in the fifth.

Kilfoyl’s squad added a run in the top of the inning with an RBI single by Nadia Taylor. Fisher and Megan Wiggins each hit RBI singles to make it a 7-3 game.
The concluding runs for each team came in the sixth inning as Baylee Klingler hit a two-run single for Team Kilfoyl, and Erin Coffel hit a sacrifice fly RBI for Palacios’ team. This made the final score 8-5, giving Palacios and the Orange Team the first win of Week Four.
MVP 1 honors went to Fisher and her four RBI day at the place. Wiggins won MVP 2 honors while Wallace garnered MVP 3 honors for Team Kilfoyl. Lastly, Andrews took home Defensive MVP thanks to this amazing play in the outfield:

Game 21: Pitching Took Center Stage in Doubleheader Finale
Outfielder Amanda Lorenz and the Gold Team squared off versus pitcher Megan Faraimo to close out the Week Four opening doubleheader. Unlike Game 20, this game did not have the offensive power. Delanie Wisz hit a two-run shot to give Team Gold an early 2-0 lead in the first.
Next, Kelsey Stewart-Hunter scored Sydney Romero on an RBI single in the top of the third. Lorenz scored what would be the game’s final run in the fifth on a dropped fly ball. The final score would be 4-0 in favor of the Gold squad.

All in all, the game’s story was about the pitching duo of Georgina Corrick and Kathryn Sandercock for Team Lorenz. Corrick, the MVP 1 of the game, threw five innings while allowing just two hits and striking out four. The win marked her third win of this AU Pro Softball Championship Season. Sandercock pitched the final two innings as the right-hander allowed the other two hits and struck out two.

Palacios is still in the mix, trailing by 36 points in second place.
