AUX Softball Keeps Up the Excitement on Day Two

While Day One of AUX Softball was full of great action at Wilkins Stadium, Day Two outdid itself. Fans witnessed two great games with plenty of action. If one loves either one of those things, it was a great doubleheader in Wichita, Kansas. That being said, here is a recap of said thrilling action on Day Two of AUX Softball.

Game Three: Team Warren and Team Wiggins Needed Extra Innings in AUX Softball

Without question, this game got off to a fast start as Jessi Warren‘s squad put up five runs in the top of the first inning. Warren knocked in two runs with a double to right center to get the early lead. The following batter, Kalei Harding went yard with a three-run homer to left field to complete the five-run inning. As they did on opening day, Bubba Nickles and Taylor Edwards hit homers for Megan Wiggins and her team in the bottom of the inning.

The bats cooled off a bit until the bottom of the fifth when Nickles slammed another solo home run to straight center field. This made the score five runs to three for Team Warren. However, Team Wiggins would tie the game at five runs apiece in the sixth inning thanks to an RBI single by Jadelyn Allchin and Sydney McKinney scoring on a wild pitch.

After a scoreless seventh, this tight matchup went to extras. That all changed in the top of the eighth. The veteran bat of Tori Vidales came through with a ground-rule double to left field. In the end, Team Warren picked up the 6-5 victory. Vidales won MVP 1 honors with Nickles and Harding rounding out as the MVP 2 and MVP, respectively. Billie Andrews was the Defensive MVP of the game for Team Warren.

Game Four: All About Pitching for Team Leach Versus Team Wiggins

In this case, Team Wiggins was looking to bounce back after a tough loss in the first game. Yet, they ran into Aubrey Leach‘s squad seeking their second win in the week. Team Leach got on the board first thanks to an RBI single in the first by Jocelyn Alo. The second inning saw Leach’s team add to their lead with an RBI sacrifice fly by McKenzie Clark.

For Team Wiggins, their lone run of the game came on a phenomenal double steal. Kayla Kowalik took second as Allchin stole home. Morgan DeBord added another run for Team Leach with a sacrifice fly in inning number seven.

The rookie duo of Montana Fouts and Payton Gottshall held Team Wiggins to four hits. Fouts took home MVP 1 honors as the former Crimson Tide star struck out six over four and two-third innings. Alo was the MVP 2 while Clark was the MVP 3.
