Azzi Fudd is a 5’10” point guard from St. John’s College High School in Washington DC. She is ranked both number one overall and at the point guard position. Despite tearing both her MCL and ACL in 2019; she still maintained her five-star status and a top player in the country remained the same. In 2019, she earned the honor of the 2019 Gatorade Player of the Year; becoming the first player to do so after their sophomore season. Azzi also earned the 2019 USA Today National Player of the Year.
She averaged 26.3 PPG, 6.2 RPG, and 2.5 APG during the 2019 season. She is an incredible shooter and has excellent gameplay, she is also a great teammate. Fudd will be a great addition to the 2021 class; joining other top players such as Caroline Ducharme, Amari DeBerry, and Saylor Poffenbarger.
Future of UCONN
The University of Connecticut, also known as UCONN, has been a women’s basketball powerhouse for many years; although they have not had the No. 1 overall recruiting class since 2012 when Breanna Stewart and others were first new to UCONN. The class of 2021 could potentially be the number one recruiting class after this signing season. Paige Bueckers and others are current freshmen for UCONN that will be a huge part of UCONN’s success.
Paige Bueckers was the No. 1 ranked recruit and the 2020 Gatorade Player of the Year. She is also one of Azzi’s best friends. Other current freshmen are Aaliyah Edwards, Autumn Chaisson, Nika Muhl, and Mir McLean. The class of 2021, especially Azzi Fudd, will only bring talent to this already talented UCONN team. The Associated Press Poll has UCONN ranked third overall in the preseason polls. UCONN is definitely not going away, especially since Azzi Fudd Commits to UCONN.
