Candace Parker shines in win over Atlanta

The Chicago Sky came off the All-Star break with a massive 90-75 win over the Atlanta Dream. Candace Parker wrapped up the game with 31 points and 11 rebounds. Kahleah Copper also added 23 points in the win for the Sky. Chicago, who closed the game shooting over 50% from the floor, had to weather offensive struggles for the entire game. Players outside Parker and Copper combined for 54 of the Sky’s 90 points couldn’t find an offensive flow. The Sky also kept the game close until the 4th quarter, after a 3-point shot by Aari McDonald at the 7:15 point-mark to give Atlanta a 5-point advantage. The Dream wouldn’t score again for the next seven minutes.

A [3] by Parker with 6:04 left in the game would provide Chicago the lead for the rest of the game. Chicago would go on a 21-5 run to secure the win.

Emma Meesseman, who was held to single-digit scoring for most of the game, created alternative ways to contribute to her team’s win. Meesseman would finish with eight assists and would assist or score on 18 of Chicago’s [30] 4th quarter points.

The Sky defense was again at the forefront on Tuesday as they kept Rookie of the Year candidate Rhyne Howard to just 7 points on 3-10 shooting. Parker had a remarkable night and 12 deflections for the game.

Parker’s Big Night

The 31 points scored by Parker were her highest points total in a Sky uniform. It was also her highest point total since 2018.

Parker started the game hot and never seemed to cool down. Parker would go perfect on her initial four-shot attempts to score 9 points. She would complete the first half of play with 20 points and end the game with 31 points and 11 rebounds.

Cheyenne Parker was their leading scorer for Atlanta with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Chicago will hit the road and head west to face the Los Angeles Sparks on 7/14 at 10:30 ET.
