Did you watch AU Hoops this season?

Did you watch AU Hoops this season? If you didn’t, stop reading this article and go to their YouTube page to watch all game replays. For five weeks, the AU hoopers hooped! The 44 players gave viewers their all; we saw last-minute game-winners, multiple overtimes, and dazzling plays.

Opening Ceremony

With the amazing social media campaign, I just knew I had to be in the arena for the opening ceremony. And I am glad I did, the opening ceremony was over a month ago and the images from the day are still very vivid in my mind. First, Tamara Walker sang Lift Every Voice and left the audience with chills, then Osha performed an interactive poem. The arena itself was decked out; I felt submerged in the culture—a feeling I sometimes don’t experience at WNBA games.

Stand out AU Hoops performances

Lexie Brown, Taj Cole, and DiJonai Carrington stood out to me. Brown and Carrington each had the opportunity to hold a captain position. Then they both made the Defensive team and finished in the Top 10! Why isn’t Lexie signed to at least a training camp contract? I’m looking directly at you, Atlanta! Lexie hit my favorite buzzer-beater this season, sorry Syd, sending Team Orange into overtime. Brown’s buzzer-beater is the first buzzer-beater in AU history; how’s that for standing out? And lastly, Taj. Cole brought her A-game every week and left with a training camp contract. Will Cole and Carrington be teammates this WNBA season?

Special thank you to Lex Robinson and the Athletes Unlimited media team. I appreciate your kindness and media coverage! Now, go watch some replays you know you want to!
