Megan Huff Signs With the Las Vegas Aces

Megan Huff

Via press release, the Las Vegas Aces announced that the team has waived center Avery Warley-Talbert and signed forward Megan Huff. Warley -Talbert only played in three games this year and averaged 2.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. She also shot 42.9 percent from the field. The Aces need more shooting, which was probably why this move was made.

Megan Huff was drafted with the 26th pick of the 2019 WNBA draft by the New York Liberty, but she was released during training camp. The Minnesota Lynx picked up Huff, but she did not play much this season. Huff only appeared in three games.

While at Utah, Huff was two-time Big West Sixth Player of the Year and two-time first-team All-Pac-12. As a senior with Utah, Huff averaged 19.6 points and 9.9 rebounds per game while shooting 47% from the field. She also shot 37% from beyond the arc and 81% from the charity stripe. The same season in a game against the Oregon Ducks, Huff scored a career-high 38 points, she shot 13-25 from the field and 6-9 from three-point land.

During the winter, Huff played in the Euroleague for TTT Riga and scored 11 points and grabbed 9.2 rebounds per game. Her shooting percentages dipped a bit, but she still is a capable shooter.

Las Vegas needs more three-point shooting to space the floor. The Aces don’t shoot very many three’s, every other team in the WNBA has taken 100 three’s or more. The Aces have only attempted 60 and have made 24, which good for 40% leading the WNBA in a three-point percentage. Aces primarily like to get the ball inside in the paint and some mid-range shots as well.

Adding the former Utah star will give the Aces another outside threat; she is a good catch and shoot player and is outstanding in pick and pop offense. Also, Huff his a fantastic rebounder and could provide more space for A’ja Wilson to go to work.
