Mesmerizing performances in AUX Softball

As can be seen, AUX Softball has given us great games along with some standout individual performances. Moreover, games fifteen and sixteen were no different as we’re close to the end of the inaugural AUX Softball.

Without question, there’s no clear frontrunner atop the leaderboard as it looks to be three players in contention. Catcher Dejah Mulipola, pitcher Danielle O’Toole and outfielder Morgan Zerkle are within 74 points of one another. In any event, here are the recaps for games fifteen and sixteen.

Game Fifteen: Pitching dominates as Team Zerkle wins 2-1 over Team Fischer

In reality, Zerkle’s team did enough offensively as it was all about pitcher Georgina Corrick in the circle. The member of the British national team went the distance, allowing six hits, one run and striking out 10. Important to note: Corrick is the second player to throw a complete in AUX Softball history, earning MVP 1 honors.

In addition, Corrick is the second player in Athletes Unlimited history to have at least 10 strikeouts in a game. She joins softball legend Cat Osterman as the only other player to reach that feat. The lone run allowed by Corrick was in the sixth inning after an RBI single by catcher Taylor Edwards.

For Zerkle’s squad, their first run came in the first as outfielder Haylie McCleney slammed a homer to right field. For her efforts, she was the game’s MVP 2. Next, their other run came off an RBI single off the bat of infielder Nadia Taylor. The Texas Longhorn garnered MVP 3 honors for her performance.

Game Sixteen: Zerkle’s team sweeps the day, defeating Team O’Toole 8-4

Following their win in game fifteen, Zerkle’s squad put up eight runs to win their doubleheader. First, they scored four runs in their half of the third inning with a pair of RBIs by infielders Sydney Romero and Lilli Piper. Then, in the sixth inning, Zerkle hit an RBI, McCleney scored on a wild pitch and Mulipola hit a two-run shot.

Mulipola was the game’s MVP 1, while Zerkle took home MVP 2 honors for their efforts in the game.  Haylie Wagner was the MVP 3 as she tossed four innings, allowing three hits and one run and struck out two.

On the other hand, O’Toole’s team managed to put across four runs in defeat. Outfielder Amanda Lorenz had an RBI in the third and fifth innings and outfielder Jazmyn Jackson and infielder Tori Vidales each had an RBI in the fifth.

AUX Softball Standings

At the present time, Mulipola holds a 42-point lead over Zerkle in the standings as O’Toole is lurking at the third spot. However, it’s important to realize that no lead is safe, even in the standings.

With two games remaining, it’s anybody’s race to be the inaugural AUX Softball champion.
