To begin, the crowd at the WWE Backlash PLE delivered at the DLC Arena in Décines-Charpieu in Lyon, France. Of the five matches on the PLE, two were women’s matches with championship gold on the line. These matches provided fans with an idea of the future when it comes to possible matches down the road. That being said, here is a recap of both matches, beginning with the triple-threat match for the WWE Women’s Championship.
The WWE Women’s Championship Delivered at WWE Backlash
All things considered, this was a match of the night candidate as all three superstars made the fans in France cheer throughout the match. Bayley (the champion), Naomi, and Tiffany Stratton left it all in the ring with all three shining. Stratton took it to Naomi on the barricade, Bayley jumped through the ropes to connect with a dive on Stratton. Also, Bayley and Naomi went at it outside the ring. The champion landed a flying elbow back in the ring as Naomi had Stratton in a submission hold.

Ultimately, Bayley retained her championship by pinning Naomi. It wasn’t a spectacular finish to a match of this caliber but didn’t take away from how good of a match it was. Naomi hugged Bayley following the match. The crowd in Lyon gave this contest a big match feel from start to finish. Please watch this match if you missed WWE Backlash as it is well worth the watch.
The Women’s Tag Team Title Match was Entertaining
The Women’s Tag Team Titles have not been featured as much since Asuka and Kairi Sane (The Kabuki Warriors) won them in January. They put those titles on the line at WWE Backlash against the dynamic duo of Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. Two former champions, Belair and Asuka, set the pace of the match before Cargill and Sane faced off. Here, Cargill showed off her strength as Sane was dominated and the crowd loved every second of it.
Yet, the champs shared moments of taking control but it became too much as Belair and Cargill took over. In the end, the challengers landed their finishers and became the new Women’s Tag Team Champions. There was some confusion as Sane attempted to get a pinfall but was not the legal competitor. All four women made their skill sets known.

Time will tell the direction of these championships as the next PLE will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with King and Queen of the Ring 2024. With the exception of Asuka due to injury, there is a possibility that some of the superstars could be competing in the Queen of the Ring Tournament.
