Oregon Ducks

The Oregon Ducks kicked off Pac-12 play Friday with an 82-53 win over the Colorado Buffaloes. Oregon used outstanding defense and hot three-point shooting on their way to victory.

The Ducks held the Buffaloes to 31.9% shooting from the field and 22.2% from beyond the arc. The Lady Ducks were active on defense and made it hard for Colorado to score. On the other hand, the Ducks shot 50% from the field and 45.5% from three-point land.

Colorado was only behind by nine early in the quarter, but Oregon used 21-4 to break the game open and was well on their to victory.

Nyara Sabally

Nyara Sabally, Satou’s sister, had a fantastic game; she scored 20 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Sabally was perfect from the field, going 9-9. The young Sabally is an all-around scorer, and it showed in this game. She can score in the post as well as shoot from the outside. Sabally missed the last two seasons due to knee injuries, but she looks healthy and ready to dominate this year.

“I have been on the sideline for two years and seen the games, so I know teams are really good. I was glad that I was able to come out and play the way I know I can play. It has been really hard the last two years. It has been a long journey, so I am happy to finally be on the court with my teammates.”

Erin Boley

Erin Boley, the veteran on the team, added 17 points and six rebounds. The forward shot 5-11 from the field and made a team-high four three-pointers. With Satou, Sabrina Ionescu, and Ruthy Hebard gone, Boley is getting her chance to shine and show off all of her skill set.

Point Guard Te-Hina Paopao added 13 points and four assists. She also added three-point shots made. Sabally, Boley, and Paopao stepped up from Sedona Prince, who left the game with an injured left foot after 18 minutes of playing time.

Up next for the Oregon Ducks is a matchup against Utah on Sunday.
