The Oregon Ducks beat the UConn Huskies 72-59; the Huskies were without Christyn Williams, who went in COVID protocols before the game. However, Oregon still took care of business, and they have been playing fantastic basketball of late. The Huskies led by ten points at one point, but Oregon’s most significant lead was 24 points.

The Ducks used a huge second quarter, outscoring the Huskies 24-10 to take a 39-24 lead at halftime. But, unfortunately, the game was pretty much over after that. UConn had a solid fourth quarter, but it was too late.
Oregon Ducks
Te-Hina Paopao led the Ducks with 22 points on 7-17 shooting from the field; she also hit 4-9 three-point shots. Also, Paopao added eight rebounds and three assists. Paopao did it all for Oregon and was the player of the game for the Ducks.
Sedona Price had 14 points off the bench on 6-9 shooting from the field. The Ducks only had two players score in double figures but hit nine shots from beyond the arc in the game. The Ducks did a great job on defense, forcing 19 Huskie turnovers. Turnovers led to easy baskets on the offensive end.
UConn Huskies
UConn got off to a string started but could not sustain it. Freshman Caroline Ducharme led with 22 points on 10-21 shooting from the field. Oliva Nelson-Ododa chipped in with 17 points, eight rebounds, six assists, two steals, and three blocks. Nelson-Ododa did a great job leading UConn but it was not enough.
You can not turn the ball over 19 times when you are playing short-handed on the road. Also, you can’t shoot 3-18 from three-point land. Although UConn played with six players, the Huskies needed contributions from Evina Westbrook; she only gave them eight points, and Aaliyah Edwards only had four points. When key players are missing, you need specific players to step up, and it did not happen for UConn on Monday.
