Victoria Toomey has played four years at Rider University; as a freshman, she played in 23 games, coming off the bench. In her sophomore season, Toomey started all 23 games and led the team in rebounding, averaging 5.6 per game.
When Toomey was a junior, she played 30 games and started ten. In Toomey’s senior year, she averaged a career-high in points per game with nine and shot 53% from the field.
In her four years at Rider, Toomey averaged 5.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, shooting 48% from the field. She was a member of the MAAC All-Academic Team as a sophomore and a junior.
When did you start playing basketball?
I started playing basketball in pre-school at about five years old.
Who are some of the players you looked up to?
Some players that I admire are my mom (Carrie), my sister (Ciera), Candace Parker, and Aja Wilson.
What aspects of the game come easy to you?
My basketball IQ and court vision came easily to me from a young age. As for skills, not much has come super easy, so I’ve just worked as hard as I can to get good at what I can do!
What was your role on the team?
My role is to be a strong post presence and finish around the rim. I also have to protect the paint on defense. My goal is to be a player who makes teammates better in whatever way I can.
Do you want to play basketball beyond college?
I do not plan to play basketball beyond the collegiate level.
What is your major?
I finished my undergrad with a Bachelor of Business Administration in sports management and marketing! I’m currently in classes for my MBA.
What do you like besides basketball?
Besides basketball, I like to read, hang out with friends, and spend time with my family.
