Simone Biles and Suni Lee Shine at the 2024 Olympics and More

During the Paris Olympics, Simone Biles and Suni Lee along with the rest of the USA Women’s Gymnastics Team won Gold in the Team All-Around. The spotlight shined on Biles and Lee as both competed in the Women’s Artistic Individual All-Around Final.

It started with the first rotation being the vault. Lee scored 13.933 thanks to a Yurchenko double full. Biles would pull off a Yurchenko double pike, scoring a 15.766 as the difficulty score was 6.400.

On the Uneven Bars, Biles did solid with a score of 13.766 with Lee getting 14.866 while Rebeca Andrade of Brazil pulled off the high score of 14.666. Biles shined when it came to the Balance Beam, scoring a 14.566 with a full-twisting double back. Lee posted a score of 14.000 and Andrade got a 14.133. Entering the final rotation, the floor exercise, Biles had a small lead.

In the end, Biles took home the Gold thanks to her phenomenal score of 15.066 on the floor. Andrade edged out Lee for Silver as she put up 14.033 to Lee’s 13.666 on the floor.

Biles made history with her second career Olympic Gold in the All-Around. She became the third woman in Olympic history to win the Gold medal twice in the event and the first since the 1960s. The most decorated gymnast in history did not compete in the event in the 2020 Toyko Games due to the “twisties” and her mental health. Simply put, the GOAT proved why she’s just that in Paris with more events on her schedule to go.

One More Thing: USA Swimming Reaches Podium in Multiple Events

First, Katie Douglass took home the Gold in the Women’s 200m Breaststroke Final by .36 seconds over Tatjana Smith of South Africa. In the Women’s 200m Butterfly Final, Canada’s Summer McIntosh set an Olympic record as won Gold over Regan Smith by a margin of .81 seconds. Lastly, the rivalry between the United States and Australia hit the pool in the Women’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay Final.

It was the team of Katie Ledecky, Claire Weinstein, Erin Gemmell, and Paige Madden representing the U.S. as the relay was highly contested. Yet, Australia would come out on top with the Gold while Team USA finished with the Silver. It’s important to note that Weinstein and Gemmell won their first career medal in the Olympics while it was No. 2 for Madden.

For Ledecky, it was her 13th career Olympic and third one of the Paris Olympics. She is now the most decorated female U.S. Olympian of all time, breaking the tie with former American swimmers Jenny Thompson, Dara Torres, and Natalie Coughlin.
