Simone Biles, USA Women’s Gymnastics Win Gold in Olympics

Without a doubt, Simone Biles and the USA Women’s Gymnastics Team were on a mission after their Silver medal finish in the Toyko 2020 Games. The first rotation in the team finals saw Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, and Biles compete for the United States in the vault. Here, Biles led the way with a score of 14.900, followed by 14.800 for Carey, and 14.400 from Chiles.

Next, the uneven bars saw Chiles put on a great effort as she scored 14.366 while Biles scored 14.400. However, Sunisa Lee shined as she was the Bronze medal winner in the 2020 Games as she put a score of 14.566. On the balance beam, it was a struggle out of the gate as Chiles posted a 12.733 score to lead off. Yet, Team USA recovered with the performances of Lee (14.600 ) and Biles (14.366).

The trio of Lee, Chiles, and Biles represented the United States on the floor exercise, the final rotation. First, Lee impressed the judges with a score of 13.533 to get it started. Next, Chiles came through with a memorable effort, scoring 13.966.

Finally, the stage became set for Biles to win the Gold and she did not disappoint with a score of 14.666. Biles, Lee, Chiles, Carey, and Hezly Rivera (who didn’t compete) celebrated as they took atop the podium as Gold Medal winners for USA Gymnastics. Italy and Brazil would win Silver and Bronze, respectively.

While Taylor Swift has the Eras Tour, this team was on the Redemption Tour, proving they were “…Ready For It.”

Biles Makes History Once Again

With her eighth Olympic and fifth Gold medal, Biles surpassed the great Shannon Miller as the most decorated American gymnast. Including World Championships, she now has 38 career medals with 23 being Gold.

The star is far from done as she is slated to compete in a couple more events in Paris:

  • Women’s all-around final
  • Women’s vault final
  • Women’s uneven bars final
  • Women’s balance beam final
  • Floor exercise final

Fans of Biles will still have a chance to watch the best to ever do it a few more times before the Games of the 33rd Olympiad conclude.

Bonus: USA Swimming Goes 2-3 in 100m Backstroke

The Women’s USA Swimming team adds to the medal count in the Women’s 100m Backstroke Final. Here, Regan Smith took home Silver while teammate Katherine Berkoff won Bronze. Australian Kaylee McKeown set an Olympic record in the event with a time of 57.33 to win the Gold. McKeown also won Gold in the 2020 Games.

For Smith, it is her fourth career Olympic medal, winning Bronze in this event in the Toyko Games. In the case of Berkoff, it is her first ever Olympic medal.
