Legacy of Pat Summitt

Before VanDerveer became the winningest coach, Pat Summitt had 1,098 career wins during her time at Tennessee as the head coach from 1972-2012. Unfortunately, her coaching career abruptly ended in 2012 with her diagnosis with early-onset dementia in August of 2011. Summitt during her career had eight NCAA Championships and 32 combined SEC titles. She coached 161 players during her time from players such as current WNBA player Candace Parker and former WNBA player Tamika Catchings. Pat’s legacy will continue to live on through her former players and The Pat Summitt Foundation. Now Stanford’s Tara VanDerveer Passes Pat Summitt in All-Time Wins and will carry Pat’s legacy with her.

VanDerveer and Stanford in 2020

This season thus far has been dominating. Currently ranked No. 1 and have a 5-0 winning streak, the Cardinals are not going anywhere. VanDerveer has led the Cardinals to two NCAA Championships in 1990 and 1992, 12 NCAA Final Four appearances, 35 Pac-12 titles, and 31 trips to the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals have many talented players from senior Kiana Williams to sophomores Haley Jones and Fran Belibi.

VanDerveer is hungry for another Final Four and a National Championship having not been to the Final Four since 2017. Since the NCAA tournament was canceled last spring, the Cardinals are ready for their shot to the top in March. About Aislyn Jowers

I've grown up going to NCCAW games, when Tiffany Mitchell was drafted to the Indiana Fever in 2016 it opened the doors to the WNBA for me. Ever since then, I have been an avid watcher of both the WNBA and NCAAW games. Instead of bothering my family and friends with my thoughts about the game, I decided I will write about it instead.
