The Sun used a balanced attack to beat Dallas, with Jonquel Jones leading Connecticut with 19 points and adding eight rebounds. Jones shot 5-10 from the field and 2-4 from three-point land.
“We’ve been working the entire season to be here, so we don’t want to squander this opportunity,” Jones said of the home-court advantage. “We got to come up with that right intensity.”
Alyssa Thomas did a little bit of everything scoring 15 points, grabbing ten rebounds, and dishing out seven assists. DeWanna Bonner added 12 points, Courtney Williams pitched in with ten points, but Dijonai Carrington gave Connecticut 13 points off the bench. The Sun shot 52% from the field and had 25 team assists; they did a great job sharing the basketball.
For Dallas, the Player of the Month, Teaira McCowan, only had seven points on 2-6 shooting. Connecticut did a great job defending her and not letting her get easy buckets. Allisha Gray led Dallas with 17 points; Marina Mabrey struggled, shooting only 5-13 from the field and scoring 11 points.
Dallas’s benched scored 30 points, with Tyasha Harris leading the way with 13 points, Satou Sabally added ten points, but it was not enough for the Wings. The Wings shot 41.3 from the field and only 25% from beyond the arc. Dallas was also outrebounded 35-28 and turned the ball over 17 times.
