Takeaways From Team Carrington Win Over Team Mitchell

Game two of the opening night of Athletes Unlimited Basketball featured Team Carrington against Team Mitchell. Team Carrington won the battle 92-85. They trailed most of the game but saved their best basketball for the fourth quarter. 

“The whole game we kept saying in the huddle, ‘We haven’t played our best basketball yet,’ especially on the defensive end,” Cloud said. “We didn’t take any pride the first three quarters, so going into that fourth quarter, that was our mindset, that we had to be a defensive team first.”

DiJonal Carrington had a string game with 13 points and 11 rebounds. She was another player that was active all game long.

Fourth Quarter

Team Carrington went on a 22-5 fourth-quarter run to pull away with the victory. Their outstanding defense led the run. Team Mitchell was held to 25% shooting in the fourth quarter. Team Carrington was very active on the defensive end, and it helped them get the comeback win. Also, Team Carrington shot 58.8% in the fourth quarter.

Isabelle Harrison MVP 1

Isabelle Harrison had an outstanding game for Team Carrington, and she took home the MVP award. Harrison scored a game-high 21 points, four rebounds, and two steals.

Natasha Cloud was MVP 2; she finished with 18 points and dished out 13 assists. Cloud did a little of everything on the court; her defense made a big difference.

Meme Jackson scored 14 points off the bench and was named MVP 3. Carrington’s team had 24 bench points, making a big difference, and Jackson was the lead catalyst. 

Team Mitchell

Team Mitchell played well for three quarters, but it is a four quarters game. Tianna Hawkins led the team with 18 points, Kelsey Mitchell added 17 points, and Sydney Colson pitched in with 15 points. Imani McGee-Stafford led Team Mithcell with 11 rebounds. They did a great job moving the ball in the first three quarters, but in the final quarter, ball movement was minimal.
