Team Brown Sweeps in Athletes Unlimited Basketball

So far, Athletes Unlimited basketball has given us some firsts in its inaugural season. This time, Team Brown, led by Chicago Sky guard Lexie Brown, became the first squad in Athletes Unlimited Basketball history to sweep all of the win points for the leaderboard.

Overall, Team Brown won the first, second, and fourth quarters. In the third quarter, they tied Team Harrison, led by Dallas Wings forward Isabelle Harrison, 18-18.

In general, It is the 35th time (in 127 total events) a team has gotten all the win points among all of the leagues in Athletes Unlimited (basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, and softball).

The teams combined to make 14 three-pointers in the first matchup of Week Two, elevating the league season total to 99 triples in the first seven games. What’s important, Aspiration will plant ten trees for every three-pointer hit throughout the 2022 season as part of its “Trees for Threes” initiative.

Moreover, both teams combined to go 23-for-31 (74.2 percent) from the free-throw line, including a 13-of-15 performance in the first half. In addition, teams wearing the blue jersey are now 0-4 on the season as Team Harrison lost in the jerseys by a score of 83-76.

Thirdly, Brown put up her fourth straight double-digit scoring game following an 18-point effort on 6-of-8 shooting from the field. She also drained four of her five free throws.

Furthermore, the former Blue Devil had six assists and three steals. Significantly, this gives her a league-high 15 steals in four Athletes Unlimited basketball games.

To begin, Team Harrison outrebounded Team Brown by a dominant 47-31 margin, including a 16-3 edge on the offensive boards. The squad transformed those 16 offensive rebounds into 16 second-chance points. Harrison crafted her second double-double of the season.

The former Tennessee Volunteer scored a game-high 29 points and nabbed 12 rebounds. She has scored 20+ points in three of her four games this season.

Harrison’s 12 rebounds matched the Athletes Unlimited basketball individual season-high. Former Ole Miss forward Danni McCray equaled that total in the first-ever game.

Harrison also became the third player this season to make ten or more field goals in a game after going 12-for-22 from the field in the loss.

Finally, guard Courtney Williams made her season debut playing 32 minutes. The South Florida alum scored nine points, 11 rebounds, and five assists. Identically, center Akela Maize made her season debut. The former NC State Wolfpack had one point and grabbed one rebound in two minutes on the floor.
