The Chicago Sky have continued demonstrating why they have the best record in the WNBA. Chicago increased their win streak to four games as they edged the Dallas Wings (89-81).
No Sloot, No Problem
The Sky were without starting guard Courtney Vandersloot, who missed the game because of being placed in concussion protocol. The Sky had to lean on backup point guard Julie Allemand who made her first start of the season.
Allemand did not dissatisfy, while she scored just two points. She kept the ball moving and wrapped up the game with eight assists and zero turnovers.
The Dallas Wings came out hot in the first quarter, opening with a 7-2 margin. The Sky would answer with a 9-0 run to take a 20-12 advantage with 3:13 left in the first quarter.
The Sky would end the initial quarter with a four-point advantage, but the vigorous defense from Dallas would see them up at halftime with a one-point advantage (42-41).
There is Something About The 4th Quarter With the SKY
In the 3rd quarter, Chicago would be outscored 23-18, putting them down by six points heading into the 4th quarter. Just like in preceding games, the Sky came out with a sense of urgency in the 4th quarter. They outscored Dallas 30-16 in the 4th. Back-to-back threes by Candace Parker would place Chicago up by ten, which would secure the win.
Kahleah Copper and Emma Meesseman accounted for most of Chicago’s points, as they combined for 46 of Chicago’s 89 points. They also combined for 22 of The Sky’s rebounds. This game would further spell a league record, as this was Chicago’s 16th straight game with 20 or more team assists.
Chicago will head home for a three-day break before taking on the Seattle Storm on Wednesday.
