Without question, getting to the Women’s Final Four is a feat within itself, and will be teams who’ve been battle tested. For the Women’s NCAA Tournament, all roads lead to Texas, where everything’s bigger, especially the lights. Here at Beyond Women’s Sports, we have our thoughts on which four teams will make it there. That being said, writers Todd Roman and LaDarius Brown share their predictions as to who will come out of each region.
Greenville 1 Region
Todd – South Carolina
Aliyah Boston and company will have an easy time cruising to another Final Four. Maryland poses as their only threat en route to another appearance.
LaDarius – South Carolina
All things considered, this feels like the safest bet in the tournament. It’s hard to bet against Aliyah Boston and Dawn Staley.
Greenville 2 Region
Todd – Indiana
Indiana has the toughest route to the Final Four but should get past Villanova in the Sweet 16 and then Utah in the Elite 8.
LaDarius – Indiana
To Todd’s point, the Hoosiers’ path to the Final Four is daunting but they will be there In Texas.
Seattle 4 Region
Todd – Iowa
Going with Iowa taking down Stanford in the Elite 8. Caitlin Clark is unstoppable and will see the Hawkeyes through.
LaDarius – Stanford
In this case, give me the duo of junior forward Cameron Brink and senior guard Haley Jones over Caitlin Clark.
Seattle 3 Region
Todd – Iowa State
Going with the upset here with Ashley Joens and Iowa State. I have the Cyclones taking down Virginia Tech in the Sweet 16 and then defeating Ohio State in the Elite 8.
LaDarius – UConn
Unquestionably, this is one of Geno Auriemma’s best coaching jobs this season. Dealing with injuries left and right, this Huskies team is battle-tested.
When is the Women’s Final Four?
This year’s Final Four will be held in Dallas, Texas between March 31st and April 2nd. Can South Carolina repeat as national champions? Time will tell.
