Without question, the Women’s Division in WWE is as competitive as ever, with talented superstars up and down the roster. The company seems to have echoed that sentiment by introducing the Women’s United States Title for the SmackDown brand earlier this month. The RAW brand will now have its mid-card in the Women’s Intercontinental Title.
It was introduced by the RAW general manager Adam Pearce in a recent episode of the show. That being said, a case can be made for several superstars on the RAW brand. Below are three superstars (plus one) who could find themselves as the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Champion.
Dakota Kai
When looking at Dakota Kai and her run in WWE, she has always put on great matches with anyone she’s stepped into the squared circle with. Kai is a decorated tag team champion, winning the WWE and NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships.
However, the Auckland, New Zealand native has yet to have any singles gold on her amazing resume. Winning the Intercontinental Title would confirm what fans already know: she is a singles star and the sky’s the limit. Moreover, she would become the third member of DAMAGE CTRL to have won singles gold in their WWE career, joining Asuka and Iyo Sky.
Natalya
All things considered, Natalya is a first-ballot WWE Hall of Famer because she has pretty much everything in the company. Also, she possesses the Guinness World Record for the most wins and PLE (Premium Live Events) in the company for a female superstar. She is a former Women’s World and Divas Champion as well as a Women’s Tag Team Champion.
More than that, she has played a pivotal in how the Women’s Division looks today. Her work is just as impactful in the ring as it is outside of it. Winning the Intercontinental Title would be something special given her family’s history associated with it. Her uncle, WWE Hall of Famer, Bret “Hit Man” Hart, is a two-time Intercontinental Champion.
Additionally, Natalya becoming the first Women’s Intercontinental Champion would be great for wrestling seeing her have another title.
Zelina Vega
When looking at Zelina Vega, her run in WWE has had some ups and downs. For example, she won the inaugural Queen’s Crown Tournament and is a former Women’s Tag Team Champion.
However, the Queens, New York native has yet to win a singles championship despite coming close on several occasions. Vega has fans wanting her to get that push and winning the Women’s Intercontinental Championship could do it.
…Just One More Thing (Another Contender)
Since being on the main roster, Shayna Baszler has yet to have a singles title but is a former Women’s Tag Team Champion. The two-time NXT Women’s Champion strikes fear into any opponent she stands across from.
She is now with superstars Sonya Deville and Zoey Stark as part of the Pure Fusion Collective stable. For Baszler, winning the Women’s Intercontinental Championship is a way of rewarding her work while potentially adding a storyline within the stable.
