The WNBA Draft is on Monday, and a lot of talent will be picked in the draft. Of course, we all know about the top picks in the draft, but there are many under-the-radar players that could make a difference for a WNBA team.
Jasmine Dickey 5-10 Delaware
Jasmine Dickey averaged 25.3 points, 10.2 rebounds per for the Delaware Blue Hens this season. Dickey helped lead the Blue Hens to the NCAA Tournament, which they lost to Maryland, but Dickey put up 31 points, showing she could score against better talent. Dickey shot 40% from the field, 30% from the three-point line, and 80% from the charity stripe. The former Delaware star is a high-volume shooter that knows how to put the ball in the basket. Dickey can score on all levels, and she is an outstanding rebounder for her size. Dickey could bring instant offense to whatever team drafts her, but she will need to improve her three-point shout to reach her full potential.
Khayla Pointer 5-7 LSU
Khayla Pointer may be small at 5-7, but she has quickness and is relentless. Pointer averaged 18.7 points per on 37% shooting from beyond the arc. She also averaged 6.5 rebounds per game, proving she is not scared to go bang with the bigs in the paint. Pointer is also a point guard that can set up her teammates. Pointer would be a good fit for a team looking for a point guard that can push the tempo; she is also a good defender with quick hands.
llmar’l Thomas 5-10 UCLA
llmar’l Thomas can flat out score the basketball; she averaged 15.7 points per game on 53% shooting from the field and 40.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Thomas is an undersized forward, but she has nice touch around the rim, and her basketball IQ is outstanding. With her skill set, Thomas will be able to take the bigger forwards out on the perimeter to create mismatches. Thomas’s basketball IQ will make her successful on the next level; she could be a could in the pick-n-roll.
