After having their past four games postponed because of COVID, the Connecticut Huskies finally got a chance to take the court. On Sunday afternoon, the UConn took on Creighton with just seven players. The Huskies won the game 63-55.

Four Scorers in Double-Figures
UConn had four players score in double-figures; freshman Caroline Ducharme led with17 points on 7-13 shooting from the field. She also added five rebounds. Christyn Williams added 13 points and five rebounds. Aaliyah Edwards had a strong game off the bench scoring 12 points on 5-10 shooting from the field. With a lot of players out, Edwards will have to play much better for the Huskies to win games. Dorka Juhasz was the last double-figure scorer with ten points.
Evina Westbrook scored two points and took only one shot from the field in 33 minutes. She did not play aggressively at all; Westbrook will need to be more aggressive as the season progresses.
Nika Muhl made her way back from injury and played 16 minutes, scoring two points, grabbing two rebounds, and dishing out three assists.
Three-Point Shooting Woes
Both teams struggled from three-point land, shooting a combined 10-45. UConn was 5-20, shooting 25%, and Creighton 5-25, shooting 20%. But the Huskies shot 45% from the field, which helped them win the game. Creighton only shot 37.1% from the field and only had two players score in double-figures. Morgan Maly had 14 points, and Emma Ronsiek pitched in with ten.
UConn has to lean defense to win games with Paige Bueckers out. The Huskies committed 16 turnovers on Sunday, but they need to cut that number down going forward. Also, they will need more for Westbrook and Oliva Nelson-Ododa; she only had seven points. It will be an uphill battle for UConn, but if they play defense and share the ball, they can weather the storm until their players come back.
