The Unrivaled Basketball Saturday matchup between the 4-2 (Laces) and the 2-4 (Rose BC) was entertaining. Rose did not look like their record and dominated the game. They were only down in the second quarter, 17-14; the rest is history, winning the game 83-69. Rose BC won as a team, with great performances from all five active players. The top three players for the Rose were Kahleah Copper, Chelsea Gray, and Azurá B. Stevens.
Rose BC
The Rose took control from the second quarter onward. Unfortunately, Angel Reese was ejected in the first half. However, Reese managed six points, one block, and 15 rebounds in her seven minutes on the court. In that brief time, she aided her team. The Rose team emerged victorious, with all active players contributing. Let’s highlight the Point Gawd: Gray ended the game with 28 points, eight assists, and three rebounds while playing 14 minutes. It wouldn’t be the Point Gawd without a dramatic finish and a three-point shot for the winning bucket.
Kahleah Copper was a key player for the Roses; she finished 8-for-14 from the field, grabbed eight rebounds, scored 21 points, and played for 12 minutes. Azurá B. Stevens was the game’s surprise, finishing 11-for-18 from the field, grabbing eight rebounds, recording two assists, scoring 23 points, and playing for 12 minutes. Lexie Hull contributed five points.
Laces
The Laces were staging a comeback in the third quarter, trailing only by eight points at 48-40. However, things went downhill for them afterward. Before Tiffany Hayes left the game with a concussion, she was the third leading scorer for the Laces, finishing with 14 points, two rebounds, two assists, one steal, going 4-for-9 from the field, and playing for eight minutes. Stefanie Dolson added 11 points, three blocks, one assist, and four rebounds, shooting 1-for-2 from three and 4-for-7 from the field in 12 minutes of play. Although Kate Martin struggled with her shooting, she ended the game with eight points, one steal, went 3-for-11 from the field, and grabbed six rebounds while playing for 11 minutes.
Jackie Young was her usual Silent Assassin, as they call her in the WNBA. Young contributed to the Laces, finishing the game with 16 points, two steals, three assists, and one rebound. She shot 4-for-12 from the field and 4-for-7 from three while playing for 11 minutes. Last but not least, Kayla McBride, who has been dominating all season long, recorded 20 points, two assists, and six rebounds, hitting 7-for-15 from the field and 2-for-7 from three during her 14 minutes of play.
The games will resume on Monday night, February 3, at 7:30 pm ET, starting with Phantom vs. Mist, followed by Vinyl vs. Lunar Owls at 8:30 pm ET on TNT.
