Without question, Week Two of AU Hoops picked up right where the conclusion of Week One ended. The points are coming in fast and are taking center stage thus far. Also, fans in attendance at Fair Park Coliseum were treated to a tight contest. That being said, here is a recap of the doubleheader to open Week Two of AU Basketball.
Game Seven: Team Mitchell outscores Team Cloud in the AU Hoops opener
If one loves nonstop offense, this was the game to watch as guard Tiffany Mitchell and her team reached triple-digits. She took home MVP 1 honors with 29 points, seven boards, and seven assists in the 101-95 win. Teammate Maddy Siegrist added 28 points and 11 caroms for Team Mitchell, which earned her MVP 2 honors.
13-year WNBA veteran Angel McCoughtry contributed 19 points with seven rebounds. Mitchell and her squad became the first team since March 2023 to lose three quarters but still get the win.

Despite the loss, guard Natasha Cloud notched her seventh double-double in her AU Hoops career. The team captain had 29 points and 12 dimes while falling short of a triple-double with eight boards. The 2019 WNBA champion took home MVP 3 honors with that effort. Cloud’s backcourt teammate, Lexie Brown, helped with 22 points after scoring a combined 18 points in the first three games of the season.
Game Eight: Team Gray wins over Team Sims in a back-and-forth matchup
In this game, each team won a quarter as it came down to the final moments. Odyssey Sims hit a layup with eight seconds left in regulation to go up 86-85. However, center Kalani Brown was fouled and drained two shots from the charity stripe to take an 87-86 lead for Team Gray.
The game saw an AU Hoops record 24 lead changes and just the second one-point game ever. Allisha Gray scored a career-high 32 points in the game with six assists, winning MVP 1 honors. The MVP 2 of the game was Brown thanks to her 24 points and seven boards. Guard Air Hearn scored 20 points with nine boards for Team Gray.

Lastly, Sims garnered MVP 3 with a career night on the hardwood. Her 40-point performance made her the fifth player in league history to reach that mark in an AU Basketball game. The guard also passed 13,000 career leaderboard points, the first player ever to accomplish the feat. Forward/Center Laeticia Amihere and guard Kierstan Bell each had a double-double in the loss for Team Sims. Amihere scored 18 points while nabbing 14 boards as Bell had 11 points and 10 caroms.
