Monday Afternoon the Los Angeles Sparks reported the re-signing of Te’a Cooper. Welcome Back Te’a Cooper to the Sparks.
Cooper, who was drafted by the Phoenix Mercury in the second round of the 2020 draft. After being waived by Phoenix, Cooper was signed by Los Angeles after guard Kristi Toliver revealed she would opt out of the 2020 WNBA Season.
Cooper emerged as one of LA’s brightest prospects. In her first game with Los Angeles, she finished with (10 PTS, 2 AST, and 2 STL) in just 16 minutes.
Bright Spot Off The Court
While taking care of business on the court Te’a Cooper’s following off the court was growing at a fast pace. Te’a Cooper’s social media impressions placed her in the No. 1 spot on OpenDorse WNBA’s Most Influential Players on Social Media beating out her LA Sparks teammate Candace Parker by over 1.4 million social media engagements.
In the past month, Coopers following has helped her gain a big endorsement with the Jordan Brand.
When speaking about Te’a in the Los Angeles’s press release, Head Coach and General Manager Derek Fisher had this to say about the sophomore guard:
“ Te’a Cooper joined the Sparks last year under difficult circumstances and took advantage of her opportunity,” General Manager/Head Coach Derek Fisher said. “We’re excited about the role Te’a can play for us on both the offensive and defensive end and her potential to be an impact player in this league.”

Returning To LA
In the 2020 Season, Te’a Cooper finished the summer averaging (7.0 PPG and 2.0 AST) in just under 18 minutes per game. Cooper numbers helped her finish in the top 10 among rookies in scoring and assist.
When asked about her re-signing with the Sparks Te’a Cooper can be quoted saying:
“I’m beyond thrilled and grateful to continue my career in Los Angeles,” Cooper said. This organization believed in me last year, and I can’t thank them enough for the opportunity. I can’t wait to get back on the court and help the Sparks compete for a championship. I’m excited to continue learning and growing alongside Coach Fisher and my teammates.”
As we look forward to the 2021 season and wonder what players will end up where; the LA Sparks locked down the future of their franchise and as we go on to watch Te’a Cooper’s game develop and flourish, it is undoubtedly it will be a spectacular event. Welcome Back Te’a Cooper.
