WNBA Attendance Report (June 16 Update)

Follow along here at Beyond Women’s Sports for the weekly attendance updates in the WNBA. This is the fifth report for the 2024 season, as the regular season began on May 14. The numbers reported below are up to and including all games through June 16. The league remains at 12 teams for 2024 but will expand in 2025 with the Golden State Valkyries. Additionally, the WNBA recently announced they will expand again, this time to Toronto for the 2026 season.

WNBA Attendance: Week in review

This week saw the Indiana Fever with their fourth season sell-out (17,274) on June 16. Additionally, the Washington Mystics had their fourth sell-out at Entertainment & Sports Arena (4,200) on June 14. The Fever’s sell-out was the largest crowd for this week. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Dream once again had the smallest attendance for the week with 3,260 on both June 11 & 16 (both sellouts).

After five weeks, ten teams have increased their attendance from 2023. Meanwhile, only two teams remain below their 2023 final average (Minnesota and Phoenix). The Indiana Fever has seen the largest increase from last season with a 310 percent increase. Overall, the league’s average attendance is up 37.7 percent from their final average from 2023. The Fever also lead the league in away game attendance at 16,032.

Below is the graphic comparing to the 2023 season’s final averages. The reported capacity numbers for each arena are based on the team’s arena being fully open. Capacity numbers are provided by each team’s individual arena’s website.

Recently, T-Mobile Arena revealed the capacity for Aces home games is 10,891. Newly added is each team’s away game attendance as well. Also reported are each team’s individual high and low games for the season. Finally, all attendance numbers are provided through Acrossthetimeline.com.

The Week Ahead

This upcoming week will see 17 games played in total. The featured matchup will be the league-leading Connecticut Sun facing A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces on Friday, June 21 (10:00 pm on ION). Additionally, the Fever will travel to Chicago on Sunday, June 23 to see Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston face off against Angel Reese and Chennedy Carter.
