WNBA Attendance Report (June 23 Update)

Follow along here at Beyond Women’s Sports for the weekly attendance updates in the WNBA. This is the sixth report for the 2024 season, as the regular season began on May 14. The numbers reported below are up to and including all games through June 23. The league remains at 12 teams for 2024 but will expand in 2025 with the Golden State Valkyries. Additionally, the WNBA recently announced they will expand again, this time to Toronto for the 2026 season.

WNBA Attendance: Week in review

This week saw the Indiana Fever with their fifth sell-out of the season (17,274). The largest crowd for the week belonged to the Atlanta Dream for their June 21 game at State Farm Arena (17,575). Unfortunately, the Dream also had the smallest crowd for the week on June 23 with 3,260 fans. In addition, the Chicago Sky (9,872) and Minnesota Lynx (8,769) saw their season’s largest crowds this week.

After six weeks, eleven teams have increased their attendance from 2023. Meanwhile, only Minnesota remains below their 2023 final average (-156). The Indiana Fever has seen the largest increase from last season with a 311 percent increase. Furthermore, second is the Dream at 64 percent followed by the Liberty at 61 percent. Overall, the league’s average attendance is up 39.1 percent from their final average from 2023. The Fever also lead the league in away game attendance at 15,412.

Capacity numbers are provided by each team’s individual arena’s website. Newly added is each team’s away game attendance as well. The Week Ahead

This upcoming week will see 11 regular season games played. However, the league’s Commissioner’s Cup Final will be taking place on Tuesday, June 25 (8:00 pm on Amazon Prime). The ION Friday double-header will see The Sun taking on the Dream (7:30 pm) and the Sparks heading to Phoenix (10:00 pm). Additionally, Sunday will see a double-header on ESPN with the Dream at the New York Liberty (1:00 pm) and the Fever at the Phoenix Mercury (3:00 pm).
