WNBA Attendance Report (June 30 Update)

Follow along here at Beyond Women’s Sports for the weekly attendance updates in the WNBA. This is the sixth report for the 2024 season, as the regular season began on May 14. The numbers reported below are up to and including all games through June 30. The league remains at 12 teams for 2024 but will expand in 2025 with the Golden State Valkyries. Additionally, the WNBA recently announced they will expand again, this time to Toronto for the 2026 season.

WNBA Attendance: Week in review

This week, due to the Commissoner’s Cup finale held on June 25, saw only eleven games being played. However, the league averaged 9,944 fans for this week. Additionally, five of these games were sellouts. The largest crowd for the shortened week goes to the Seattle Storm on June 27 (18,343).

Next was the Phoenix Mercury with their sellout on June 30 (17,071). The Dallas Wings also sold out their lone game of the week on June 27 (6,251). The smallest crowds for the week go to the Washington Mystics’ two sellouts with 4,200.

After seven weeks nearly every team is above their 2023 final average. Currently, only the Minnesota Lynx sit below last year’s average (-156). The Indiana Fever has seen the largest increase from last season with a 312 percent increase. Furthermore, second is the Dream at 64 percent followed by the Liberty at 58.8 percent. Overall, the league’s average attendance is up 40.3 percent from their final average from 2023. The Fever also lead the league in away game attendance at 15,333.

Capacity numbers are provided by each team’s individual arena’s website. Newly added is each team’s away game attendance as well. The Week Ahead

This week will see 18 games in total being played. The highlighted games will be on Tuesday, July 2 with the Fever taking on the Aces. Also, the ION double-header on Friday, July 5 will see the Dream facing the Wings (7:30 pm) and the Aces taking on the Los Angeles Sparks. Saturday, July 6 will see the New York Liberty traveling to Indiana to face Caitlin Clark and the Fever (1:00 pm on CBS).
