Follow along here at Beyond Women’s Sports for the weekly attendance updates in the WNBA. This is the first report for the 2024 season, as the regular season began on May 14. The numbers reported below are up to and including all games through May 19. The league remains at 12 teams for 2024 but will be expanding in 2025 with the Golden State Valkyries.
WNBA Attendance: Week in review
This attendance report spanned the week of May 14 through May 19. For this one week; the league had a total of 14 games. Currently, only Atlanta and Chicago have not yet hosted a home game. The Dream will have their first home game on Tuesday, May 21 against the Dallas Wings. Meanwhile, the Sky will have their first home game on Saturday, May 25 against the Connecticut Sun.
The largest attendance for this week goes to the New York Liberty which had a sell-out of 17,735 on May 18. The smallest attendance for the week belongs to the Los Angeles Sparks and their game at The Pyramid at Long Beach State on May 15 (3,847). The Indiana Fever opened the season with their first-ever regular season sell-out on May 16 of 17,274. The Dallas Wings (6,251) and Washington Mystics (4,200) both sold out their two games for this week as well.
After the first week, league attendance is up by 76% compared to last season’s final average (6,615). The Indiana Fever is currently up 325 percent from last year’s final average of 4,067.
