Follow along here at Beyond Women’s Sports for the weekly attendance updates in the WNBA this season. The numbers reported below are up to and including all games through September 8. The league remains at 12 teams for 2024 but will expand in 2025 with the Golden State Valkyries. Additionally, the WNBA recently announced they will expand again, this time to Toronto for the 2026 season.
WNBA Attendance: Week in review
Overall, 17 games were played for the week beginning on September 3. The highest attendance for the week belongs to the Indiana Fever’s three sellouts (17,274) on September 4, 6 and 8. The lowest attendance for the week belongs to the Atlanta Dream for their sellout on September 6 (3,260).
At this point in the season, the Indiana Fever has seen the largest increase from last season (+317.8%). Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Sparks are second (+72.1%), followed by the Atlanta Dream (66.3%) and then the New York Liberty (+62.6%). Overall, league attendance is up by 48.2 percent from 2023, and this season is currently third in league history (9,806). They averaged more fans in the 1998 and 1999 seasons (10,869 and 10,205).

The Week Ahead
This week, 18 games will be played. All 12 teams will be in action on Sunday, September 15 with the featured game being the Sun at Aces at 6:00 pm (CBS Sports Network). The ION Friday night double-header will feature A’ja Wilson and the Aces facing the Caitlin Clark-led Indiana Fever (7:30 pm). The second game of the night will see the Sun traveling to face Diana Taurasi‘s Phoenix Mercury (10:00 pm).
