WNBA: Preview – Minnesota Lynx at Dallas Wings

The Minnesota Lynx will end their current road trip by visiting the Dallas Wings, who are coming off an impressive win over the Las Vegas Aces. The Lynx will hope to extend their current streak to eight victories. So far, the Wings and the Lynx have split their two games, and both teams have certainly improved since their last meeting. Dallas’s record really isn’t an indication of how good they can be.

I say can be because they have struggled with consistency all season long. Of course, the return of Satou Sabally has added some much-needed firepower, but it is still Arike Ogunbowale who leads the charge. Having Maddy Siegrist back in the lineup is also a plus, and both Teaira McCowan and Natasha Howard make significant contributions.

The Lynx are playing some of their best basketball of the season, with contributions coming from everyone at any given time. Natisha Hiedeman has played significant minutes off the bench, along with Cecilia Zandalasini, Dorka Juhász, and newly signed Myisha Hines-Allen. The Lynx really do have a remarkably visible chemistry. This is a team that loves playing together, and it shows.

Regardless of the score, their mission is clear. Now in second place in the standings, and having earned a spot in the playoffs, the Lynx will look to close out the season with a strong finish.

The Minnesota Lynx Face A Tough Dallas Wings Team On The Road

With ten games remaining, the Wings statistically still have a chance to make the playoffs, albeit a slim one. No team has an easy schedule from here on in, so I anticipate some highly charged and very physical contests in these last few weeks.

Of course, Minnesota has to deal with the inside presence of McCowan and Kalani Brown. Dallas will be challenged by the Minnesota defense and some excellent outside shooting. While this might not be Dallas’s year, with a few new pieces, they could very easily move into legitimate playoff contenders next season.

Do the Lynx have the muscle to make it to the finals? Yes, they are a team that is taken quite seriously by their opponents. Coach Cheryl Reeve has navigated these waters many times, and this version of the Lynx has the dedication and determination to make that final push. After Dallas, the Lynx head home for a game versus Chicago, who is struggling these days.

The Wings will welcome, or at least host the red-hot Indiana Fever on Sunday. So really, all we can do is sit back, enjoy, and watch these remaining games unfold. Given some of the rather surprising results lately, the phrase “anything can happen on any given day” is more than accurate. It’s going to be an exciting race to the finish line.

Aloha - The Dodgers were still in Brooklyn when I was a kid. I was never a Yankees fan. I'm a season ticket holder for the Minnesota Lynx, a big UConn WBB fan, and an avid Arsenal supporter. I consider myself a student of basketball. If I were to write an autobiography, it would be called SERIOUS FUN.
