WNBA Recap: Week four Power Rankings

On Mondays, the BWS crew votes for the Power Rankings poll. We rank on a variety of things, not just wins or losses. The quality of the week’s win/loss counts during our selection. This week Las Vegas moves back into the No. 1 spot. Las Vegas claimed a nice victory over the Chicago Sky last week and starts the season 9-2. The Seattle Storm bounces back to the top half of the league and we continue to watch Phoenix Mercury struggle.

Atlanta is holding their own! The Dream moves up to the No. 4 spot after a monster win over the Mercury. Feel free to join the week four WNBA recap discussion with us under this post or on Twitter.

Around the WNBA

Betnijah Laney underwent surgery and will miss eight weeks for the Liberty. The explosive guard/forward had an arthroscopic partial meniscectomy on her right knee. The New York Liberty still have some great players on the floor, but they will have to lock in to capture more wins for head coach Sandy Brondello. Diana Taurasi is angry. Sunday, her Mercury team lost by 27 to the Dream. DT and crew only scored eight points in the second quarter. Then on Tuesday, the Mercury fell to the Sky by three. DT was ejected after a no-call late in the second quarter.

A’ja Wilson and Alyssa Thomas are the Players of the Month for May. Rhyne Howard is named the Rookie of the Month and Becky Hammon scores her first Coach of the Month honor. WNBA All-Star voting starts today! Click here to learn more and to cast your vote.
