All things considered, seeing women in sports grow is awesome to watch. Moreover, the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) has added to that growth. Soon, we will watch them on our TV as the Women’s Football Alliance announces it signed a TV network contract with ESPN.
The network will air the 2022 Women’s Football Alliance Pro Division National Championship shown to a live audience on ESPN2. The live presentation of the WFA Pro National Championship will air on July 10, 2022, at 2 p.m. on ESPN2.
About The Women’s Football Alliance
The WFA will kick off its 13th season on April 9, 2022, and is the biggest, longest-running, and most competitive women’s football league in the world. In addition, the WFA has 62 teams and 2,100 players. Most important, the WFA has fostered chances for women to be involved and gain a greater knowledge of football.
Significantly, many WFA players have used their involvement in the league to have prosperous coaching careers in the NFL. To clarify, over 25 WFA alumni have taken coaching and scouting roles in the NFL. This includes three WFA Advisory Board members and current NFL full-time coaches:
- Jennifer King: Assistant Running Backs Coach (Washington Football Team)
- Callie Brownson: Chief of Staff (Cleveland Browns)
- Lori Locust: Assistant Defensive Line Coach (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
What’s more, the NFL has supported the teams in the WFA in their respective cities. For example, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft flew the Boston Renegade, on the team private jet, Air Kraft, to last year’s 2021 National Championship.
Also, the Cleveland Browns teamed up with the WFA to host the WFA All-American Girls Clinic at the Hall of Fame Village in Canton, Ohio. Overall, it was where the future female players master the game from top WFA and NFL players.
In truth, I am personally looking forward to watching these ladies compete on the field. After all, the future is female in sports.
